Using markers and an A3 layout pad I was able to produce a range of typographic negative space designs. Some are more successful than others, due to the fact that I was getting used to using markers, and definitely feel that I improved my skills with using markers by the last results.
I first made these designs on illustrator, however some after I had printed out, I used the photocopier to produce further ideas, by combining to designs together. One of the strongest ideas that I produced was many small ‘Headtop Turners’ repeated, mirrored and turned into a pattern. this design I knew would create something interesting when I traced the negative space, as it would create a large repeated pattern. Although the text isn’t so clear for this traced design the main focus is on the pattern created.
I even used my markers to create a few designs of already created logos, some where already negative space, however others I chose to only trace the negative space and see if the logo’s where still noticeable and they were, teaching me that negative space does work quite successfully when using it with images also.
